Felting Exploration
Experimentation with felting with the felting machine
-
Mixing different coloured wool
Was trying to find a method to marble the wools together
-
1st sample
Tried marbling the colours together and added white yarn on the back. Put it through the machine at least 5 times only for the white yarns to not pull through to the front
-
2nd Sample
Attempted to put the white yarn on the front of the wool design instead of behind. Not the desired effect I wanted, so I continued to experiment.
-
3rd Sample
I strategized by pulling apart the wool rovings and loosely placing them to marble them together along with the white yarns. The outcome was as close to how I wanted it.
-
4th Sample
I played with this sample by using the same method as the 3rd sample and tried to add more colours to see a more marbled effect. This one was very experimental and I would say this was my favourite outcome.
-
Designing process
This is the 3rd and 4th sample before it went through the felting machine. It was also before it was cut in half to further my exploration
-
Panel for Jacket
After experimentation and for my final project for Field Research class, I began my design for a panel to attach back onto my jacket as a deconstruction/reconstruction piece.
-
Result of jacket piece
This was wool roving on top of a brown cotton twill piece that I will reattach to the jacket I made as a final project for my field research class.
-
Jacket
I wanted to incorporate part of my explorations that I did during the class onto a piece of garment.
